Coaches Development and Player Development Teams

I grew up and played ball in Sandy. When I reached my Senior year, I was given the opportunity to serve in the local church by investing in some middle schoolers in a local study. That opportunity led me to let go of my love and passion for baseball and to aim toward a career in church ministry. In 2000, God gave me the opportunity to return to baseball via coaching a youth team in Sandy. I spent 3 years working with players from ages 9-12 and coached 3 All Star teams. In 2003 I was given the opportunity to coach baseball at Sandy High School. In my 13 years at Sandy, I served in many different roles, including Head Freshman Coach, Head JV Coach, Program Pitching Coach and Varsity Assistant. In 2014 I had the opportunity to be an assistant on the State Championship team. In 2016 I left Sandy to become a Varsity Assistant at Gresham High School where I served as the program Outfield Coach for 3 seasons. In 2019 I became the Head Coach there.

The reason I coach is simple, to point young men toward Christ and to help them become the men God created them to be. I pray daily that my influence in the lives of the athletes I lead would cause them to see a reflection of their creator. I strive to encourage and build them up and to show them what it means to be a loving, caring, responsible man who walks in integrity.

All of our coaches are certified by the 3Dimensional Coaching Institute.

What is 3D coaching?

Created by Dr. Jeff Duke, Ed.D., one of the foremost experts regarding cultural influence of the coaching profession, 3D coaching is a framework that is revolutionizing the sport coaching landscape around the world. 3D coaches are not only well trained at coaching the body of their athletes and solidifying fundamentals (what we call the first dimension). They are also trained and skilled at coaching the mind and capturing the heart of their athletes (what we call the second and third dimensions).

We believe great coaches understand that performance will suffer if all three dimensions are not engaged. What if athletes consistently showed up with a great attitude and gave their best effort? What if they regularly played their best, and also learned valuable life lessons through the universal language of sport? If we want athletes who are “All In” we need to engage them in all three dimensions of their being.

We have assembled a top-notch group of coaches for the 2021 season.

  • Players sign up to play “club level” baseball because they are serious about the game and want to improve their skills. We have assembled a coaching staff we feel is second to none when it comes to fundamentals as well the mind and heart.
  • We are not a “for profit” team and believe that having more teams is not always better. At this time, we have decided to use our coaching staff to build 1-2 strong teams rather than spread out our staff.
  • Our 16U team has four amazing coaches with a knowledge base that covers all aspects of the game.
